Mole Valley District Council and Dorking Chamber of Commerce are supporting Small Business Saturday 7 December 2013
Dorking Chamber of Commerce is running a pop up Business Clinic in the shop at the Mercure White Horse Hotel from 10am to 2pm where financial advisors, accountants, graphic designers and other professionals will be offering free business advice. Budding entrepreneurs, new businesses, any small business or those thinking of setting up a business or retail shop are invited to pop in and discuss their plans or issues free of charge on this day.
Says Yvonne Bavin, Dorking Chamber Chairman: ‘Dorking Chamber is delighted to support Small Business Saturday and encourages everyone to support local retailers and businesses on this day. If you know of anyone who would benefit from free business advice or would like to meet members of the Dorking Chamber, please tell them to pop along to the business clinic.’
MVDC Councillor John Northcott says: ‘Mole Valley District Council are delighted to support Small Business Saturday and challenge everyone to only shop with local businesses this day. With free parking in all Mole Valley car parks from 12 noon on Saturday 7 December, it’s even easier to pop into town for lunch and remain the rest of the day browsing the shops and enjoying everything Dorking has to offer.’
Those shops who are taking part can download information and posters for free from www.smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com.
Free parking is offered in all Mole Valley car parks from 12 noon on Saturday 7, 14 and 21 December.
Small Business Saturday is taking place right across the country for the first time on Saturday 7th December 2013. Introduced in the UK by Shadow Business Secretary, Chuka Umunna, and supported by the Prime Minister, Small Business Saturday is a national grass roots campaign to encourage people to shop locally and to support small businesses in their communities on the day and beyond.
Saturday 7 December is being supported by AMEX through their Shop Small campaign. AMEX are offering customers £5 credit back to customers who spend £10 or more using their Amex card at any small business taking park. Customers have to register their card first, but AMEX have been promoting the day to their customers, who can find out which shops are taking part by using an interactive map on www.amexshopsmall.co.uk. Over 40 Dorking shops and restaurants are already listed on this map.
